Egret in flight in the Everglades is a graceful and exciting sight to witness; particularly if you are from the northern states visiting Florida for the first time. Everything about the Everglades is an amazing peak at nature in its natural habitat. While I took some professional licensure with my choice of tones for this 30x48 canvas in oil, my subject matter stays true to the reference photo.
Painting is a journey for me as is seeking a subject with my camera. Each blank canvas is a call to adventure. With the stroke of a brush, I embark upon a quest of self-discovery. It places me on the edge of being someone other than myself, being some place new and exciting, and often the journey leads me to places of profound inner peace. The composition, colors, texture, lighting � they all have impact on me, but when I paint and photograph, it�s so much more than just a visual experience. At some point I become lost in the moment.
